Mainetti’s Full Circle global sustainability and operations strategy sets out ambitious targets
London, UK – 10 March 2022: Mainetti, the global retail solutions provider today launches its Full Circle global sustainability and operations strategy by publishing its ambitious sustainability goals for 2025 and beyond. The industry leading initiative is built on the success of the group’s Plan M, launched in 2012 which established Mainetti as a ‘sustainability first’ company.
Mainetti’s Full Circle brings together its global teams to play their part in tackling the climate emergency. Full Circle will define how the company operates going forward, which include decarbonizing operations, promoting the circular economy, and ensuring safe and efficient operations for the whole workforce.
Decarbonizing operations means doing business using as little energy sourced from non-renewable fossil fuels as possible. Mainetti will continually increase its energy efficiency, switch to renewable electricity where possible and then will offset the remaining balance of its carbon footprint. Currently 61% of the energy used by the group is renewable with the aim of increasing this to 80% by 2025 and 100% by 2030.
By promoting the circular economy, Mainetti will introduce more ranges of products that are made from renewable sources such as paper, card, or compostable materials, expanding its hanger reuse offer to more customers and reducing the use of virgin plastics as far as possible. This builds on last year’s successful launch of a world first closed loop recycling initiative, Mainetti Polyloop, which leverages Mainetti’s network of 47 manufacturing and recycling operations across the globe. So far some of the biggest names in retail including S.Oliver and Superdry have been using Mainetti Polyloop for the consistent supply of good quality and trusted recycled content.
Keith Charlton, Chief Operations Officer at Mainetti, comments: “The achievements in the last nine years of Plan M have been excellent in establishing Mainetti as a ‘sustainability first’ company and we are now excited to build upon these foundations through the ambitious Full Circle Initiative targets we have set ourselves for the next four years and beyond.
Keith Charlton continues: “Our innovations in sustainability and circular economy processes and practices assists our customers in meeting their own circular economy targets for plastics. Full Circle is good for business and good for the environment.”
