Mainetti Launches M-Film™ Flexible Packaging Portfolio to Expand Range of Sustainable Packaging Solutions

Mainetti’s new M-Film™ portfolio offers a comprehensive suite of packaging solutions designed to support retail and apparel brands at every stage of their sustainability journey.

Iselin, New Jersey. August 13, 2026: Mainetti, a global leader in sustainable packaging solutions, has today announced the launch of the M-Film™ flexible packaging portfolio. As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to the circular economy and solving sustainability challenges for retail and apparel brands, the new product line includes a wide range of innovative and high-quality sustainable packaging solutions to suit every customer.

Aligned with industry standards, Mainetti’s M-film portfolio offers sustainable solutions tailored to its customers’ needs – from recyclable plastic to Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®)-certified paper alternatives. By meeting customers wherever they are on their sustainability journey, Mainetti provides retail and apparel brands – such as Gap Inc., Columbia Sportswear, Lululemon, and Amazon – with packaging products and services that allow them to achieve their unique objectives.

Jeffrey Hsu, Chief Product & Commercial Officer and Regional Director of the Americas at Mainetti, said: “Sustainability means something different to every retailer and brand we work with. For some, it means moving away from fossil-based materials entirely or adopting more compostable solutions. For others, it’s about partnering with a packaging provider that can scale their offering to meet their ambitions. With M-Film, we’ve built a portfolio flexible enough to meet brands wherever their sustainability priorities sit.”

Mainetti’s innovative portfolio delivers a comprehensive suite of nine alternative-material solutions, including:

  • M-FILM™ Bio-Based is made from renewable, sustainably sourced biomass, such as sugarcane, offering a lower-carbon alternative to conventional plastic packaging. Produced using bio-based polyethylene (PE), it delivers the same quality and performance as fossil-based PE while helping to reduce reliance on finite resources. M-FILM Bio-Based is also a carbon-negative packaging solution as it captures more carbon dioxide (CO2) than emitted throughout the material’s full lifecycle.
  • M-FILM™ Pulp is derived from FSC®-certified renewable wood pulp, offering a 100% non-fossil fuel-based packaging alternative. It is fully compostable and designed for high-performance retail use, with heat-sealable, lightweight, print-ready, and anti-static properties. It also provides a strong protective barrier againstoxygen, moisture and aroma, making it a versatile sustainable solution for retail and apparel brands.
  • M-FILM™ Dissolve is a water-soluble film made from Polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) that delivers the strength of conventional plastic without the environmental cost. It resists tearing and puncturing, dissolves completely in water or composting systems, and leaves no microplastics behind, making it marine-safe compostable solution.
  • M-FILM™ Recycled is a high-quality Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) film made from up to 100% recycled polymer, offering brands a closed-loop alternative to virgin plastic without compromising on performance. The film achieves near-full transparency – comparable to non-recycled materials – with consistent clarity maintained across Mainetti’s certified manufacturing sites.

Developed with circularity at its core, the new product line helps Mainetti’s customers navigate the evolving demands of the packaging industry. From rising consumer expectations for more sustainable products, to increasingly stringent regulations on non-recyclable packaging, the M-Film portfolio reinforces Mainetti’s position as a trusted partner, supporting brands in their transition towards a more circular economy.

Mike Jones, Head of Innovation and General Manager of Intelligent Solutions at Mainetti, said: “The launch of the M-Film flexible packaging portfolio marks another milestone in Mainetti’s commitment to providing brands with a comprehensive range of sustainable packaging solutions. As demand for sustainable alternatives to conventional packaging continues to grow, we remain focused on delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that enable our customers to achieve high-quality performance without compromise.”

The portfolio is manufactured across 14 of Mainetti’s production facilities which are certified by three internationally recognized standards. These include the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), which verifies recycled content and ensures traceability throughout the supply chain; the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS), which focuses on chain-of-custody verification; and the EN 15343, the European standard for plastics recycling traceability and recycled content.

This announcement builds on Mainetti’s growing flexible packaging offering and ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability. Earlier this year, the company expanded its paper hanging solutions with strategic investments in its manufacturing capabilities across Asia. Equipping multiple facilities with new state-of-the-art equipment to boost output, Mainetti is now able to scale production of fully recyclable paper products across the globe.

The M-Film portfolio is the latest step in this journey as the company continues to deliver its sustainability-first mission, helping brands achieve true circularity across their operations.
