Mainetti is the ideal partner for flexible packaging because we support you every step of the development process – design, production, compliance, delivery and recovery. Polybags are made with up to 100% recycled content, and the M-FILM™ range extends to compostable, bio-based and paper-alternative films, all with certified content and documented chain of custody. One relationship covers the full cycle, from concept to delivery and back again.
Fourteen flexible packaging sites operate across the Americas, Europe and Asia – including Mexico, El Salvador, the United Kingdom, Italy, Romania, Türkiye, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and China. Every site is held to the same quality standard, so a bag produced in one region matches a bag produced in another. Local teams support retailers, manufacturers and brands in their own markets.
The M-FILM™ range is developed and produced in-house, and includes recycled, compostable, bio-based, water-soluble and paper-alternative materials. We help you achieve your objectives – you choose the quality based on how you want the package to perform in transit and at retail, where it ends up, and what sustainability claim it needs to support. When requirements fall outside of standard ranges, our teams develop to specification – adjusting film structure, gauge, additives or format around the product and the market it sells into.

Up to 100% recycled polymer, in post-industrial and post-consumer grades. Performance matches virgin film and enables clients to define their ideal recycled content.

Water-soluble film that dissolves completely, leaving no residue or microplastics. Seal and print differ from conventional polythene, so products requires custom specifications.

Renewable biomass in place of fossil feedstock, lowering the carbon intensity of the material. Feedstock is traceable under ISCC for deforestation-free sourcing.

Limestone-infused film with a smooth, porcelain-like finish and impressive hand-feel. For packages where storytelling and presentation matters as much as protection.

Cellulose-derived film with a glossy, translucent finish that presents product without concealing it. Takes print cleanly and gives a paper feel with better clarity than paper allows.

Compostable cellulose film built to survive transit, storage and retail handling. Replaces single-use plastic in applications where paper alternatives can fall short for durability.

Biopolymer film certified to break down in domestic composting, without industrial heat. Suited to markets where consumers compost at home rather than through collection.

Biopolymer film certified for commercial composting, which runs hotter than home systems. Requires an industrial stream in the destination market.
Five standards govern how Mainetti manufactures flexible packaging. ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 cover quality and environmental management across all fourteen flexible packaging sites. The Global Recycled Standard audits recycled input from raw material to finished bags, and the Recycled Claim Standard verifies the recycled percentage for each product. EN 15343 completes the chain of custody, with transaction certificates issued on request for import compliance. ISCC extends the same traceability to bio-based feedstock, covering deforestation-free sourcing and greenhouse gas monitoring.
Packaging regulation is tightening across every major market. The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) introduces recycled content thresholds, recyclability requirements and reporting obligations on staged deadlines, with comparable rules developing elsewhere. Certified content and documented chain of custody means there is evidence of compliance rather than claims. Mainetti specifies materials for distinct markets, so a package is compliant where consumers purchase products.
Material selection decides how a package performs, what it costs, and whether a sustainability claim holds up. Michelle Boon, Global Director, Supply Chain Solutions, leads our efforts to work with clients on specification, sourcing and the realities of managing materials at scale. Mike Jones, Head of Innovation, spearheads development of films and the technologies applied to them, from recycling-compatible inks to traceable materials. Their teams test films against transit, storage, retail display and end of life, so recommendations come from production data rather than supplier claims.
Polyloop is a closed-loop system for clear polythene. Used transit bags are collected at store, baled at the distribution center, and returned to Mainetti, where a specialized process removes inks, paper and contaminants. The recovered polymer is extruded into pellets, shipped to Mainetti sites, and made into new bags that re-enter the same supply chain – more than 2,000 metric tons a year. Two LDPE grades come out of it: post-industrial, clear and low in impurities, and post-consumer, which is RCS and GRS certified. Polyloop applies the cicular economy model proven over forty years in Mainetti’s Hangerloop program™ to plastic bags.
Mainetti’s creative teams partner with clients to design the elements that carry a brand on the product, throughout the supply chain and across the retail experience. Conceptual design, program editing, production art and package engineering work as one team, based in key customer markets and manufacturing regions close to the brands they support. Material choice is part of the design decision rather than a constraint on it. We invest in design and development to provide the product protection you need. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.
Packaging is increasingly expected to carry data as well as product. Identification performs better when it is designed into the package rather than added at the end. Intelligent labeling should be considered along with sustainability requirements and product protection. Connected packaging has become a regulatory requirement. Mainetti develops flexible packaging with that in mind, so identification and traceability requirements can be built in from the start.
M-FILM™ range enables retailers, manufacturers, and brands to convert their packaging programs to their ideal material without compromising performance or presentation. Our teams are available in every region we manufacture in.
